Interesting times...
Wow, I have been learning so much about the medical marijuana movement lately. I sort of fell into covering it this summer when I realized just how big some of the stories were. California during the age of Bush/Aschroft has been really interesting for people who grow or distribute marijuana for medicinal purposes- raids on farms, raids on clubs where the pot is sold to coop members, limits on the number of clubs that there can be in a given city or county...and now two women from Northern California are before the Supreme Court. I wish I could have been one of the reporters who were there this week...but oh,well. I also wish I could get paid to do this stuff. It is interesting that part of the Raich v Ashcroft case has to do with states' rights (cannabis use for medicinal purposes is legal in California and 10 other states, but prohibited by the federal government), whereas on the same day as Angel Raich went to the Supreme Court, the Justices decided to not hear a case against Gay Marriage in Massachusetts...this could be significant for the outcome of the case...or could it?
